Kinja'd!!!

CarFax says an accident occurred 3/9/2013, which is before the delivery date. Jack Daniels says it happened after delivery, but have no records of where it went or what was repaired. On top of that, what the fuck is with the mileage in/out record. I have 8 pages of history on this Boxster that just labels is a huge “piece of shit”

mileage in/out could just be a lazy service writer. They are supposed to go to the vehicle and get actual mileage but a lot of them just add 1 to the last mileage in the computer and then just rely on the tech to give them mileage out.

It’s especially funny when they get the little old lady yelling at the service manager saying someone went joyriding in her car because the mileage is 1000 miles off, even though she was only there for an hour.

those were miles testing to confirm all was fixed. You can trust they weren’t just driving it around for kicks. Now will you buy this hunk please?

It is not uncommon for a vehicle to be damaged during transport. It is possible this vehicle was damaged on the road before getting to the dealer and an accident report was filed. The In/Out mileage could just be a typo or the guy logging it in was too lazy to go check the actual mileage and just made something up.

Here’s some sketchy shit too:

In my state, the point of disclosure for damage on a new vehicle is 3% of MSRP (not counting mechanical, glass, tires, or bumpers). The dealership would heavily discount labor and essentially give away parts (on paper, at least) to keep total repair invoice under the 3% mark to avoid having to mention anything whatsoever about the “brand new car” having ever been damaged to a potential buyer.

Another reason I’m happy to be at an independent as opposed to dealer owned body shop. I don’t have to play corporate games, I can tell people the truth.

It probably was in a pre-delivery accident while in the possesion of the dealer and went through an insane amount of repairs. It’s not the worst if it was all done at a good dealer shop with original parts, but the price must reflect that history heavily.

Either they’re charging $3800/hr or the technician is rounding up the five minutes it took to the nearest hour.

Not the first time I’ve heard of Jack Daniels doing this.

Cayenne took like $15k of roof damage before being delivered. They sell it to a woman without disclosing the damage. Her lawyer takes on the case pro-bono bc that’s very illegal, they win, Jack Daniels ends up having to pay out the entire value of the car (about $60k), lawyer takes half, she gets half, and she gets to keep the car.
